Opinions on boost control?

A boost controller is next up on my list of mods. However I am having trouble deciding between A Hallman Evolution Rx manual controller, or an electronic boost controller. Price is no object when it comes to buying reliable quality parts for my car. I have read good things about both types. I lean towards the manual controller because of the price, but then begin to think about the greater number options offered by an electronic controller, and the possible safety features that it also has compared to the manual controller. Just curious to know the opinions of others on this topic. Tell me your good or bad expierences. Thanks.

boost control

go manual- if you dont have a boost gauge, get one. most of the elec. units will require you to "learn boost" to function properly. problem is that we have 2 vac lines that control the fact. solenoid.... boost controlers use only 1. bottom line is the elec. is not as user friendly....

MBC = cheap, easy, change only peak boost value, needs boost gauge
EBC = expensive, needs brain, change boost curve shape/response & peak, built in gauge

Here are a few you may not have considered in the MBC department from Dejon...

http://www.dejontool.com/DSM-MBC.htm

I had the MBC-1 and it worked great on my GSX with no problems. Set it and forget it. If you want to choose two boost positions he has a MBC-2. Great boost controllers and great price.

i had the Hallman MBC on my car and i switched to Blitz i-D III.....I love the Blitz i should have installed it from the beginning....here is what i like about the Blitz is
1) gain setting... you can control how hard the boost kicks in.
2) it is so easy to adjust
3) the gragh display....... shows the boost histroy for about the last 30 sec
4) peak boost......shows the highest boost recorded
5)boost warning..... you can set the peak boost you don't want to go over and what percentage you what it to turn down if it hits (at night the whole diplay turns red when you hit boost warning)
6) 4 different boost presets .......( normal driving, race gas, winter, when the girlfriend drives)
7) no more stoping the car and poping the hood to change boost....i can change my boost when im driveing
8) with the Blitz i have no boost taper it holds 21.5 all the way to red line...i always had a slight taper
i am very happy with the Blitz it is worth every penny i spent on it

I think it really is a personal decision. There is much less of a learning curve with a MBC, cus it simple doesnt have any of the other bells an whistles that alot of EBCs have. EBC offer alot more funcitonality but that comes with more complexity. I have an old school Greddy Profec B and it works great for me. Holds boost really well to red line, has high and low but settings with the push of a button, and is mounted in my glove box for extra stealth. For me it was the best of both worlds. Problem is they don't make my unit anymore.

i think it is easier to set the boost on my blitz took about 5 minutes to set it up after i installed it and i didn't have to get out of the car once.....with the Hallman it was do a pull get out pop the hood turn it up......repeat untill you get the boost you want
