crush washer

I did a search and couldn't find what size the crush ring is. Does the ring have to be replaced at every oil change too?

THey want you to though I never did and never had any problems. I eventually got a fumoto valve and so I don't have to worry about them anymore.

Yes, you should change the crush washer with each oil change. Why risk your $30,000 car over changing a five cent part? I went to the dealer and bought 10 of these although a Fumoto Valve would definitely be the easiest.

i agree with runny yolk, i just buy one with every oil change i do, usually i change the filter every oil change too so my dealer just throws in the crush washer for nothing.

I tried using a crush washer once when I forgot to get one and I leaked oil everywhere until I placed one on.

It's like replacing your engine mount bolts every time you pull your motor. sure it's a good idea but not absolutely necessary.

ive never changed mine on my evo its been 15000 miles, or on my Z its been 43500 on that car... i used to work for honda and would replace them on customers cars becuase you MIGHT get a small leak, and no one wants a customer to come back complaining of a small leak....

Why risk your $30,000 car over changing a five cent part?
why would you risk your car by not changing it?? you make it sould like you would have a massive oil leak or your plug would fall out and you'll lose all oil pressure....

That's a new stock piece...I have one, and a micrometer, sitting on my desk. That's the best I can do to help.

Oh, and each and every time I have changed the oil in any of my cars, I've replaced the gasket. Compulsive, but worth the couple extra cents for the peace of mind, and keeping oil off my garage floor.

Parts guy at the dealer here throws in the washer for free when you buy the oil filter. He tapes it to the box.

I would always use the washer and make sure you use a NEW one every oil change.
I changed the oil and reused the washer and had slow oil leaks from the plug.
