Question Defi Bf Oil Pressure Gauge Questions

I installed the Boost gauge and the control unit and everything is working fine.
I have left to install the EGt gauge and Oil Pressure gauge. here is my dilema

alot of people buy the greddy block adapter and retap it to work with the sensor from Defi, the same people claim the greddy block lowers the filter and whatnot by almost 2 inches.

Now, reading thru the how-to's I saw alot of complaints to doing it this way . some one mention another way :

The block is tapped fron the factory for that sensor at 1/8 NPT, it's a one wire normally open switch (so unplugged the light on the dash will stay out) and the defi warning will make it redundant anyway.

Hope that helps

Can this be done? what are the drawbacks of doing this? is it a more accurate reading , etc.?

First off..the Defi senders have 1/8 PT (or BSPT). This is NOT the same as NPT. The block is most likely 1/8 PT anyway.

There is another open spot next to the oil filter which is 3/8 PT. I believe 42 draft designs (IIRC) sells an adaptor with the proper thread. The sender is not mounted next to anything and is not low. The wires can be easily routed up the subframe and firewall from this point too.

If you ever plan on lowering your car I wouldn't use the Greddy adaptor. Your oil filter will become the lowest part of the car....

so your suggestion would be to buy an adapter from 42 draft designs, and use an open spot near the oil filter? is the spot used by anything?

There is only a plug in there.

I know, locally, 2 other guys running the same setup and they haven't had any problems. Readings are in spec with Mitsu's service manual.

Why remove what Mitsu has put in place when there are easier options.

i have done the bf oil temp and pressure guages and i used the plugs near the oild filter. It came out perfect. I got the adapter from my defi dealer, he just tossed it in for nothing. Also go on lancershop.com to see a full write up on this install.

Kilterman, glad to see youa tackling the installs. The oil pressure guage is simpler than it sounds. I bought a couple spare fittings that will work with the Defi sensor fittings. These will match up perfectly the plug near the oil filter. You don't even need to drain the oil to do this. Very easy.

IF you want the couplers and fittings, let me know, I will give them to you.

for the article, go to the how-tos and it should be in there under oil temp or oil pressure. Yeah, thanx mitsu for that plug.

I know Defi D oil pressure sensors are threaded at 1/8 BSPT.
Defi D oil pressure sensors are threaded at 1/8 NPT. I am positive about this. I think the BF's would be the same as well. I bought a greddy oil block adapter for this, but both ports are 1/8 BSPT so I'm out of luck on the oil temp. And I'm not gonna use the adapter for just one sensor. I even tried to order a 1/8 NPT to 1/8 BSPT fitting for the temp sensor, but the damn sensor won't fit through the hole in the adapter. I think you can re-tap the threads on the oil block adapter, but I'm not crazy about doing that. I have a brand new greddy oil block adapter, never used, for sale if anyone's interested. I'm probably gonna do the temp through the drain plug and the pressure through the block. I already ordered all the adapters from 42 DD.

these fittings we are discussing, are these available at a home depot? if they are all I need to know is what the size of the thread is on the plug and I will be on my way sensor in hand. Thanks
