anyone using a MSD DIS2
anyone using a MSD DIS2
is it worth it? I heard nothing but good things about it. This model is for the 2 coil, so will it work for the Evo?

it technically can be used with the Evo if you upgrade the coils.. its not exactly plug and play, but the DIS-2 has features you won't ever really use, thats probably why iI haven't seen it used on our cars.. however it has 2 features I like, the rev control and the two-step.. but it has timing features that could potentially confuse the stock ECU, and the timing features it has are things you can get using an XEDE or ECU+, and the rev limiter, launch control, direct timing control, would be features you'd see in a UTEC, and of course, the AEM EMS has even more control making these additional features even less useful for someone using a standalone.
Something like this would compliment an S-AFC/Reflashed evo though.. but I don't know of anyone who's used it on one.
The best unit for our cars is one that is only a simple 2 channel CDI box.. of course the easiest is the plug and play HKS-DLI-2 unit..

GD it. I had a whole nice post typed up and it timed out
Basically it said what Malibu did, but in addition to coils, you'd need a new external ignitor too (for *any* CDI box to work). The transistors are built-in to the Evo coil packs, which is why you'd need to replace them with separated coils and transistors. The ignitor/power transistor from a DSM will work, but you'd have to wire it in obviously. DSM coils may also work, but I don't know anyone who has tried it. Most seem to go with the 4 separate motorcycle coil setup. I have spare DSM coils, but no ignitor, otherwise I might give it a shot.
It just seems like a lot of work/added expense for the ability to run CDI. All I really want is a decent 2-step that will work with the factory ignition personally.
