10.5 hotside HP gains:)

Does anyone knows what REALISTICly 10.5 Gives in Power increase.????

Ive heard from 0HP (better Power uptop) to 20HP ....

Any consensus would be helpfull as I am looking to get it or to go with 3071 kit for about 30HP over stock turbo.

what I dont Understand is.
03= 9.8T = 271hp
and
05=10.5T=276hp

only 5hp flywheel, how does that amount to 15-20whp? I mean if that was the case the 05 should be rated at 300hp respectfully

am I alone on this?

well, I think the 276 refers to the peak hp. But that doesnt make sense either since the 10.5 give better midrange AND a higher topend due to more efficient flow.

The '05 MR with the 10.5 hotside is rated at only 5 more hp but 15lb/ft more torque. But to answer the question, they're tuned really rich from the factory. An aftermarket tune will release the extra hp of the 10.5. I also run more boost 22-21 lbs without any problems.

You people who swear that your 10.5's or TME turbos are giving you 10-20 or more whp are crazy... but if the placebo effect works for you, then it's all good.

yeh, more torque.

like 15, but with supporting mods, along with 10.5, I see good results.

Search for a thread by Dynoflash on the 05's performance. He tested a baseline flash on the 05's and saw at least 10-15whp and torque on the 05's versus the 03's-04's. Some friends actually have the same amount of mods and tuning, and the one with the 05 GSR easily pulled away from the 03 GSR on the high end pulls.

I think the whole magazine rating is just for show. might just be trying to be conservative in their rating.

Just installed my 10.5 hotside and Megan O2 housing. Just from the short time I've had it installed. The turbo seems to spool faster and it boosts more smoothly. The car feels a little stronger in the mid and high rpm range as well. I am installing the Megan manifold this week as well.

Would you consider a dyno a placebo?

I added a TME and DNP style header, and made 21whp instantly. It allowed me to run a couple more psi in the midrange as well as sustain boost better up top. Definitely made more peak and area under the curve than my cams did.

The 13.0 @ 105+ runs I made on my 05 evo stock seem to prove otherwise. With stage 2 mods I can hold 21 PSI to redline now and the car really screams up top with full boost in 5th by 2900 rpms or so. It may not be 20 whp but it's certainly 10-15 whp range and brings the car up to a healthy 290-300 crank HP.

Likewise my 13.1@104 with a crappy 1.92s 60' in stock form (248whp dyno) and 12.8@106 with just an S-AFC. That's a helluva placebo when it manifests itself so often on both the dyno AND at the track. I don't recall seeing too many 03-04s run 104-105mph in stock form...ok, I didn't see any.
