a/f gauge question

i just installed the defi d-series a/f gauge. when i turn on the ignition the gauge "checks" its self and then go straight to 17 and doesnt move. it lights up and i checked the wires and it was all good. so what the deal why is the needle staying at 17??? its hooked up to the ecu, spliced into the front o2 sensor wire.

narrow band.... can't trust it.

but you shouldn't be at 16.5, you're lean as hell.

should be at 14.5 or 14.2 or whatever the stoich level is on idle.

I think you may have that thing hooked up wrong?

Are you sure this thing was meant to be hooked up to a regular NB O2 sensor? Those generate a voltage between 0 (lean) and 1 (rich). A WB sensor doesn't directly generate an analog output, the controller does. Most produce a 0-5v signal with 0 being rich and 5 lean. I'm sure this gauge is meant for a WB controller.
