Engine immobilizer
This is what the JDM EVO has: "All Evolution VIII models come standard with a vehicle immobilizer system that requires the use of a pre-coded key to start the engine."
Ours is probably similar.
Ours is probably similar.
Maybe this is not important to some as this will only be a race car for them, but security is important to me since my last car was stolen even though i had an alarm. If our immobilizer is similar to the Inifiniti one, it will be difficult to steal the car(unless they use a tow truck/flat bed) since a code needs to be sent to the ECU in order for you to start it along with the right key. Here is a short description how the Infiniti one works, which sounds almost the same as the JDM EVO immobilizer:
"Immobilizer System embeds an encoded transponder chip into ignition key. The engine control computer will not allow the engine to start without the correct key and transponder"
