It sounds like you may have the muffler slid on to far and thats why it isnt letting the clamp grab more of the pipe. Slide the muffler off of the catback tube some and try to put the clamp back on. This should fix the problem for you. If not let me know and we will figure something out. Thanks and sorry for any inconveince.

No problem at all. The car was driveable I just wanted to make sure everything was buttoned up properly.

I see what you mean about sliding the muffler off to allow more of the cat back to be exposed to seal on to, I think that would work. However, the tip is in the exact right spot right now and looks great, I hate to slide off of it any as it would be sticking too far out. Will the catback sticking into the muffler too far cause any other problems? Is it possible for the catback to touch something inside the magnaflow causing a problem?

Last night I got out a bigger wrench (evil laugh) and cranked the seal down even more. I've got a long tourque wrench and I really tightened it up which seemed to fix the problem. I had my wrench set to 100 pounds and I was still clicking the wrench, so I must have been quite a bit over it. I'll keep an eye on it and see what happens. If it doesn't work out, I'll probably pull the muffler off and maybe trim the cat back a little, but I kinda hate to do that either....

We had a few guys in the past with the clamps we supply not being able to get the pipes to actually stay together. Just recently (last 2 weeks maybe) we switched to a non-stepped clamp. This new clamp requires an EXTREME amount of torque to be put to it. The clamp will actually form to the two tubes without crushing them and makes the pipes impossible to pull apart, rotate or anything else. A 1/2" breaker bar or preferably a 1/2" impact gun set on kill is the best way to tighten it down.

Constantly trying to improve everything we do.

That's what I wound up doing. I have a big, 1/2" torque wrench and I was well past 100 pounds. The only thing that concerns me is the fact that the package for the clamp says to torque to 60 pounds (I think, I threw it away when I was done). At some point, the bolt is going to break by tightening it too far, but I don't know what that number is....

We use an impact set on "kill" to tighten them. The clamp will form to the tubing when it is tight, I have never broken one of those bolts.

I don't have an impact, but so far so good. After a week or so of driving, I got underneath the car last night and tried to spin the muffler and it was still good and tight. I do like those clamps, very easy to use and the system can be taken apart if necessary. Now I have to decide what to get next. What cam combo do you suggest to get max power out of a stock turbo? GSC, HKS, duration?

I really like the HKS cams. Depending on what your goals are and what you are going to use to tune the car I would suggest different sets of the HKS. (264, 272, 280)

I'm looking at getting the most out of my stock turbo that I can, good spool and driveability. My wife uses it as her daily driver for about 30 miles daily of plenty of stoplights, but I wouldn't mind taking it to the strip and maybe some autocross now and then.

Do you suggest using the same intake and exhaust cams, I know GSC sometimes recommends mixing it up a little bit.....

I suggest mixing the cams for some applications too.

I'd suggest using the HKS cams, then we'd have to talk about what you are tuning the car with and what you are willing to scacrifice.

Cool. What compromises do I have to consider? I plan to have a full custom tune done by Al when I'm done modding the car.

The important thing is this is my wifes daily driver, so it has to be easy to drive.

If you run a cam too big then you will have some driveability issues depending on what you are tuning the car with. Since you are getting a flash you will be limited.

Give us a call, when you order the cams I can make sure you get the best for your application.

Cool. What options are better than a flash?
