Bang inbetween shifts

i've heard of this being somewhat normal between 1-2 shifts, but when i push my car and shift at 1-2-3-4 shifts, the car has that bang feeling inbetween shifts at almost all times. I'm running an ACT HDSS Clutch w/restrictor removed, SS clutch line, short shifter, bushings, thats pretyt much it for drivetrain mods. Is this ok for the car in the long run? i dont want my tranny breaking

could it be your trailing arm bushings? I have that problem inbetween shifts, but recently have bought the ams trailing arm bushings. I haven't put them in yet, so its hard to say if that fixes the problem

beats me, but it sort of "hurts" my passengers sometimes from the sudden force of the car doing that.

The engine dampener I put in helped a lot with that. Basically, it's gone.

could it be that you're giving your car the "dumped clutch" effect when you shift? that used to happen to me alot when i tried shifting as fast as i can, dumping the clutch while gassing the car. i noticed that i'd rev up a bit, and then when the clutch finally drops, the car would make a loud band/pop/thud noise, or whatever.

try to make sure the clutch is fully disengaged before giving her a little gas, and if that doesn't solve your problems, i'm sure someone else on here would have the answer.

if u shift hard 1-2-3-etc. the car will do that, its perfectly normal. i used to do it with my stock clutch. shifting like that, in the long run, will destroy ur transfer case. my brother's(who has an ACT 6puc) is on the brink of breaking. He launches at every light though!.

I used to slam the gas in between gears so hard it would make that noise... probably not the cause in your case but you never know

Do you really mean "inbetween shifts?" Meaning, while you are accelerating with the clutch released and the gas on the floor?

Or do you really mean "while I am shifting?"

I've never understood why people describe the time that they are shifting as "inbetween shifts." Talk about confusing.

how new is your clutch?....mine did that the first few times i shifted hard with my ACT...but as soon as i slipped the clutch for the first time....after that it went away.

if you have broken in your clutch and you have never launched...give it a little slip and launch it once....after i did that my clutch doesn't engage nearly as hard in between hard shifts...but it still grabs perfectly....just not as abrupt

and i know exactly what you're talking about....if feels like someone is hitting your rear diff with a sledge hammer between shifts right?

no, it's not the motor mount...

to make sure it's the "dumped clutch" effect, try this... while driving and getting ready to shift gears, let off on the gas, pressed down on the clutch, and shift. now, before you let off on the clutch, give it some gas so that your rev is a 1k or 2k above idle and then as fast as you can, let off on the clutch. if you get a slight bog with a sledgehammer thud sound, it's the as i stated. it's the same thing that happens when you try to dump your clutch for a launch. try reving your car at launch above 3k, and then let off on the clutch. quite a big bog and a loud bang, and then your car slowly comes to life.

and again, if this isn't the case, then i have no clue how the motor mounts would play into this. and i believe you have a 2.3l... not 4.3l.
