TRE Rebuild...Questions/Opinions wanted.

Well pretty much what the title says, I am thinking of sending my tranny to TRE, I have been e-mailing Jon about it and seems like my best option. Just curious if anyone has had their tranny rebuilt by them and if so how is it. I definitely want something stronger and smoother than stock, which I hear the TRE rebuild will be. So any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks

I wouldn't send the tranny off to anyone unless the car isn't moving under its own power, won't shift at all or is making some bad noises.

Jon did my tranny and TC. Had them in the car for 9k miles now, love 'em, one of the best mods I ever did. You won't be sorry!

We also have our TRE reman'd transmissions for the EVO 4-8 from time to time. This way you don't have to worry about down time.

Hey Jon,

I'll trade you my T-67 kit for t-case/tranny rebuild. =). Just a thought.

BTW, how much should I expect to pay for taking the tranny/t-case out and back in?

Thanks

Jon did my tranny 6k ago and it still is one of the best mods I have done to the car. I have never missed 1-2 or 2-3 shift with his trans (and I am pretty hard on tranies). The tranny downshifts great and is so much smoother then the stocker. Highly recomended mod.

You might also want to consider:

I have heard many a horror story about Jon's lack of communication and his sometimes long turnaround times.

Ditto, I can be pretty tough on a car when I'm at the track, but this tranny's performance is easily repeatable and it seems bullerproof.

Some say it's the opposite.. He'll talk your ear off!

I've got his transmission and LSD. No issues except for the lighter wallet

I did my work back in December/ January and his turnaround times were acceptable and he answered all of my e-mails then.

I have heard he's exceptionally slow though if you don't send him money .

I PM'd Jon one time asking about TC and Trans fluids and we had several PM's discussing things. He knew I wasnt going to give him any business then, but if he will discuss such a small matter for such a long time, then I think he would be ok to do business with?

Thanks for the replies I also looked into Shep racing, but I like the ease of TRE with their shipping box. I can say Jon has replied to my e-mails just about daily so communication hasnt been a problem so far. I wouldnt consider my self being too hard on the clutch, I do race but never just drop the clutch.

Ditto, my car was down for over a month for something i expected to take 2 weeks. I have no doubt in TRE's quality and reliability. I was just unsatisfied by the turn around time. So I think im going to try shep when it comes time to fix my transmission.
