GM MAF and MAFT?

Can we set up a blowthrough MAF with a GM MAF and the MAF Translator that the 2G DSM guys are using? This entire setup could be had for ~$250 and would replace the need for an SAFC as well as eliminate the restrictive stock MAF. Please post up if you have any relavant info!

The current offerings from the MAF-T only replicate the 2G DSM MAF which is not the same as the EVO MAF. However it is possible you can scale it's output to that of the EVO MAF, but you're looking at additional hardware.

if you change the maf setup, anything else then factory calibrated kaman vortex type maf, then you either need a standalone, or get a new ecu for that specific type of maf sensor calibration.

I have a blowthrough MAF setup using a Ford Cobra based sensor and a different translator product...

Do a search for "blowthrough maf" So far, there aren't any people I know of running the GM sensor and MAFT, There's no real reason why it shouldn't work, however like JustDSM said, the output curve has to be calibrated differently for the EVO (the 2G setup will work on our cars, but you need to adjust its output curve)

The big issue is durability with the GM sensor as a blowthrough unit, I think thats partly why you don't hear too much of it.

As far as I know, the Ramcharger MAFT will work, but if I recall, it doesn't use an Intake Air temp sensor , which can hurt drivability and tuning somewhat.

I currently have a blowthrough setup made by pro-flow, however proflow is defunct, granitelli racing is still offering the MAF sensors, but I don't know if they are/will be offering the Karmann Converter Box..

You an also contact www.splitsec.com they have both a electronic MAS to Karman unit, I think they have an offering for using a GM sensor, or a 5v analog (ford) sensor. They also offer a programmable MAS to Karmann converter which will allow you to more easily replicate the Evo's MAF curve. The only problem is I'm unaware if these specific units use a replacement AIT sensor, and if it does, which kind so its calibrated correctly.

As far as my experience goes, I've had all sorts of problems with the GM Hot wire Maf in my Corvette and Camaro (both were Forced induction and blowthrough setups) where the sensors would get damaged pretty frequently (not sure if it was the pressurized air, or vibration) Where I have never had a failure with the Ford/Hitachi sensor.

Somebody should make a kit for us. Did Ultimate-Racing stop offering it?

A hotwire MAF doesn't need an intake air temp sensor.

I've never heard of a GM MAF on a DSM getting damaged.
