28psi On 1st Gear

Hi, has anyone here boosted 28psi on 1st gear on the stock 03 Turbo running C16 or Alcohol Injection?

I have my Hallman Pro Rx set at 28psi, the problem is I can't boost 28psi on 1st gear, but on 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear my boost reaches 28psi and tapers down to 26psi on each gear by redline.

I don't know if I have any exhaust leak or boost leak that I can't boost 28psi on 1st gear.

Please Help...

Thanks

Thier isn't enough load on the motor in 1st gear to get to 28psi. The motor revs out runs the ability of the turbo to make boost in first gear.

Use e-brake launching technique. It will preload you in first gear.

Thanks Evol VIII,

I thought my mbc controller is acting weird.

Is 30psi safe enough for the motor to handle if you have no misfires or knock?

I hope you have some ARP head bolts with that kind of Boost. You should be able to make any Psi of Boost in any gear not sure of why the gear would make a limit to what Psi you max out. As far as taper that would be more gear dependant. Also with the stock turbo I can also see how you would get to Boost/Fuel cut at that kind of Boost as well as falling out of the Turbo's efficancy range even with race gas.

Theres a reason why they tell you to test your boost in 3rd or 4th gear. 1st and second dont have enough load, and 5th has to much load and tends to make boost spike.

Thanks guys...

Maybe if you have the stock injectors and stock fuel pump you will hit fuel cut once you reach 28psi of boost.

Were you running 28psi on C16?
I have similar mods and I'm thinking about getting UTEC at Harman Motive.
