Question Clutch and Engine Questions

Took my 05 Evo VIII to an 1/8 mile event last night and need some help. First launch was pretty hard, spun all four tires a good bit, after the run I noticed a really
bad burnt clutch smell which I can still smell a little today. Also, on the first run I
revved the engine to around 8500 rpm between first and second and then to 8000
from second to third without hitting the rev limiter. I went way easier on the clutch
and never let it rev over 7000 for the rest of the night. Is the clutch smell common?
And what is the stock rev limit? Any help would be greatly appreciated from this
newcomer.

Thanks,
The Ghead

I dont believe you have an EVO. I think ur makin it up. You would have hit the rev limiter on a stock evo. No way in hell is it going to let you rev till 8500rpm. so i call BS!!!

8500 will float the valves. Can you say "CRASH"! Your tach is messed up. If you over slip the clutch you melt then burn the disk and yes it smells.

by the way, i thought people launching at redline and returning the car to the dealership with 2000 miles complaining about how it's fried was a myth, but I guess that's true... There are "people" like that.

Not making anything up, tach went well over 8000 rpm twice, and I'm almost positive it's an EVO, I think.
