lifters tap x100 URGENT!!!! PLEASE HELP!!!!

i was driving and did a pull, not redline pull... then all of a sudden i hear loud tapp from my engine bay (like something cluncking), I stopped and pop up my hood and try to gas it a bit, and all i hear is a realllll loud tappp from my head. not the average tap from lifters, but more like a knock FROM the head. feels or sounds like on of the lifters failed maybe????

Anyone know or has an idea whats going on?

I have:

264/272 CAMS
INJECTORS,
TBE
MBD
SAFC

just basic stage 1+

any help will be appreciated.

Thnaks

boosting 1.4 and using 91.

but it does it from low rpm, so I'm affraid to push it to higher rpm. The car runs, but as I'm driving it... i can really really hear this loud... i mean extremely loud tap from the head. Feels like either the valve train failed, rocker failed or something.

anymore ideaS?

rod knock
spun bearing...

this is all theoretical

it's a hot day outside
w/ stock intercooler it's over worked...

the bearing spins with the crank...

having all this heat... and then flooring it... due to heat issues... the vehicle may have pulled too much timing which maybe caused damage due to the high heat and the insufficiency of the stock intercooler... thus spinning a bearing... the noise could be coming from the top of the block... closer to the head...

:shrugs:

Very good chance that you nocked a cam follower off kilter, or completely off. Take off the valve cover and have a look and get back to us.

pull the valve cover and look around. Does the knocking speed up when you increase the throttle? Did you loose power once you started hearing the noise?

if you snapped a valve... and its swimming around in there... chances are it's scraping the crap outta the walls... fkn shizzle up... rebuild that portion....

prolly about the same price as how much the dealer would've charged you for your misfire issue...

that's only worst case scenerio... you shouldn't be that bad bro... your car was running like a champ when you guys pulled up and took off from me

Number one, stop driving it until you diagnose the problem. There is a very very good chance that you could just compound the harm done by keeping it running. Number two, take the valve cover off and take a look, search for a rocker that has jumped off or a broken valve spring (doubtful, but check anyway). Number three, do a leak down and compression check. Do not be suprised if they come back not so good. If so, pull the head and see whats up.

Are you constantly hearing that noise even today or after you let the car cool down etc. Mine lifters, I believe, was loud yesterday but it was hot. Sounded like knocking from the engine. I can hear it even when I rev the engine at idle. Seemed to have gone away. I hope it's just the lifter noise.

I don't think that your problems is the same as mine. Mine sounds like something is loose inside the head. Like lifters noise, but very very very extremely noticable loud.

I get lifters noise before, but not as loud as this one!

well i'm getting my car towed. so i'll let you guys know the outcome.

thanks

I wanna say spun rod bearing but that ain't enough rpm to do it unless you had a faulty one to begin w/. Oil level was fine?
