JDM MR BOV- Higest Boost obtained?

What is the highest boost spike or peak that you are able to obtain with the JDM MR BOV? I have one and a friend of mine has one. When running race gas and turning up the boost, we can obtain more than a 27 psi spike even with no wastegate line. Another guy has a similiar setup, but a Greddy Type S with both springs in it, he can spike to 29.6 psi on his. His hold boost slightly higher than our cars do to.

Just curious as too if anyone has been able to run more than 27 psi peak with a JDM MR BOV?

If this is really a problem, then I can see how the BOV could actually make torque and hp, when running the turbo at full tilt.

If you can disassemble it, just remember you could always shim it

Oh one other thing, BOV don't make power, they only hold the power the motor makes.

Well in this case, if the BOV allows the intake manifold and the motor see more boost (i.e. more air flow), then the BOV is the part that creates the added HP and/or Torque.

In other words, if I change nothing else on my car on the dyno, BUT the BOV. I make another pull and my boost is higher, and I make additional torque and/or HP, then the BOV was responsible for allowing the engine to make the additional torque and/or HP.

I agree if you are running lower boost, that the weaker BOV is able to hold, and you install another stronger BOV that doesnt leak either, you wont make HP.

However, I think, back to your original thought about the shims. I dont think you can take the cap off the JDM MR Bov. You would need to be able to remove the cap to access the spring. You can take the adapter off though. I wonder if you could take the adapter off and crush it similiar to the 1g Valves.

NOt sure if it'll work but just do like someone in here did to the stock one. Drill and screw a bolt into the top of the bov to make the inside spring compress more

Has anyone else had this problem with the JDM MR BOV though? I am not 100% sure it is the BOV, but I am highly suspicous that it is the culprit. If others have had similiar experiences with this BOV, then that will solidify my theory, at least in my mind..

Well, the DV doesn't directly see WOT air flow, so I don't see how it's the bottleneck. The only effect it has on air flow is at vent...

But on this note, I'll agree to disagree that a DV makes any power at all. IMO it can only hold/lose the power your motor currently makes.

I honestly can't answer your question directly, because I'm not trying to run more than 24psi on my MR DV, but seeing as how it's basically a 1g BOV that might be a little better, I wouldn't expect it to do well above 25psi, whereas I _would_ expect a good aftermarket BOV to hold up better.

You probably aren't getting many responses on the limits of the MR DV, because those of us that get it aren't really trying to push it to its limits. I got mine just to be better than the POS plastic stock BOV, but not to attract any attention via bling or noise. Mine is nice and quiet, and holds boost wonderfully en route to 12.2 and 12.3s runs @ 22-23psi.
