Symptom of a bad clutch?

i have about 6-8k miles on my stock clutch which was installed at the dealership.
Every morining or anytime i drive my car after parking for a good few hours my car is nearly imposible to take off. When i say take off i mean gently feather the clutch pedal and take off in slow speeds. I get a HORRIBLE vibration that shakes my entire car. I don't think this is the same as the clutch chatter that others have been having. What could be causing this?

I NEVER launch my car and my car feels perfect in every other way. NO slipping when engaged in other gears. It just feels like the clutch won't grab in first gear when cold.

Anyone have any ideas?

it's grabbing, that's for sure. if you can't feather it, it's natural, mine does the same thing when it's cold and I count myself lucky. I've kept the stock clutch in the car for 26K.

However, I've got my restrictor removed from the slave which I always attributed this to. Sounds like you've still got yours.

Hmmm. I think mine does the same when its cold. Try giving it a bit more gas when taking off(when cold). I have 16,000 miles on my stock clutch. Feels great. I only launch the car once in a while.

mine does it too. not every day some times once a day, I don't think its a bad clutch just a crappy and very picky clutch.

the reason i think it does it more when it's cold is cause it's still picky and your engangement should change when the car is cold, due to higher rpm ect. ect blah blah,ca ca.

although if you can't find a way to avoid it in the mornings or it's just not possible then maybe it is bad, cause I don't have that problem every morning just once in a while. maybe once a week

thanks for the replies guys.

im thinking that its a combination of the normal clutch chatter and also the point that 144mph made about the clutch restrictor pill. I did remove my pill. I might consider putting it back on.

anyone else take the pill out and notice more than usual clutch chatter? And, since i don't launch, would it be a better idea to put the pill back in?

nothing to do with your clutch, try warming the engine up a bit longer and see if its still bad. all Evos feel like tey are going to stall out if you drive it when cold! (something to do with turbo i think).

I think sophic is right. It's most likely the increased rpm when the car is cold that makes it feel like it's grabbing more because you're used to slipping it from 900 rpm when the car is warm. I'd definately keep the pill out of there. That thing kills clutches, though perhaps not quite as bad as the stock rubber line.

I wish my clutch still did this but with 38,000 miles its pretty worn just trying to wait till oct (bonus time) so i can get a twin plate instead of the stock replacment. used to do it every once in a while wouldn't worry too much.

The Exedy twin plates have problems with low RPM start-up and chattering/shuttering.

It almost feels like the car shakes from the engagement to an extent. Daikin has posted a WARNING in their literature about this.

It's normal...annoying but normal. Just let the car warm up and give it a little more gas and ease it out.

I get the same issue with my stock clutch. I have the pill in there, as well as the stock rubber clutch line. My car does it the most when the engine is cold, but also does it when its warm, though less frequently. It freaks me out. I thought that something was wrong, because it didnt do it till after a lot of road tuning. I was about to go out and get a new clutch, but if you all say that it's normal then I will just deal with it. I also have about 25k on my car and only a few launches at the 5k launch controll feature.
