Trans Oil (I know it has been beat to death)

Well I just finally switched my tranny oil from stock to Synchomesh. I heard that it was better and everything but never thought it would do much and I was too damned lazy to change it. It is a HUGE difference! Anyone running stockish type oil should definately switch. I was honestly amazed at the shift quality difference. Just figured i would post it up so people that are the same as me and too lazy or didnt believe it would change that much.... it does.

Now it is time to go to the track again and see if I can actually shift it at 25+ psi at 7.6k It wouldnt go into gear last time hence my pitiful 12.7 @ 118

I dont really know I used to manage a few Jiffy Lubes and the old managers all know me so they just let me have whatever I need and they stock the stuff. Almost any automotive place that sells Penzoil anything should have it or at least be able to get the stuff.

If there is an O'Reily's Autoparts near, a customer of mine bought a case from them the other day.

autozone has the penzoil sychromesh....they don't carry a lot of it though, because nobody ever gets it...so if you have other evos in town they probably scoopin it up, and they won't special order it for you. everytime i go to autozone and see some there, i buy it....i have like 6 quarts sittin around now.

also, you can get it from GM but its more expensive(like 3 more bucks a bottle)

Your local Chevy dealership is the only reliable place to get the stuff. I couldn't find it anywhere else.

I heard with this fluid u have to cahnge it every 5k bc it wears out the syncros bc its too thin! Is this true? This is why im still running the stock fluids but would like to change to something better w/o having to do it constantly!

why are people using synchromesh when redline makes a gl4 75-90 synthetic? synthetic = free horsepower.

I was told by multiple reputable sources that synchromesh will work bad @ss.. these sources also build trannies all day everyday (Including mine ). They were right... And as for the free horsepower... I dont think our trannies like synthetic oil (Too slippery?) but even if it did synchomesh is pretty lightweight would I suppose should make it spin easier but how much power are you going to gain? Come on now... take a crap before you race and it is probably the same HP equivelent in most cases.
