F our drivetrain... VENTING but speakin truth

So sick of this. Ever since my TC started howling, tranny leak, tranny case replaced syncros replaced, TC replaced, changing fluids every 3 weeks, this car is pissing me tah F off..I dont even know what smooth shifting feels like anymore. I can feel friction in the gears everytime i shift, even the day after i put fresh fluids, same crap. Its gotten to the point where i get so mad, i just shove it into gear whether syncros like it or not. What tha hell was Mitsu thinking with this drivetrain? Dont they realize people do race these cars and it wouldnt hurt to make the drivetrain a bit stronger. PS: All these problems came naturally, NO launching, in the whole lifetime of my car (50k miles) i launched 5x tops with no dumping. Just regular daily driving, babying this b*tch buying 30 dollars worth of oils every 3 weeks when i was babying it, now i just dont give much crap about this car except changing oil, proper gas, and checking out CELs if theyre ever out there and odd noises which is pretty much "normal" for this car. Supra here i come

Strange. I have a few thousand more than 50k and mine has been to the track a few times and I'm not having any tranny problems. Maybe it's a lemon??

Maybe its time to give Jon at TRE a call.

If not a rebuild, he could atleast give you some advice on what to do.
He's always taken time to answer my annoying emails.

Have you ever adjusted your clutch? It can make a world of difference in shifting smoothness.

Perhaps its the DEU causing all these problems?

Take it to TRE or Shepracing. I've seen your various posts complaining about the tranny and the dealership you took it to.

True, there are some minor problems with the car that will turn into major frustration if they aren't addressed.

As for the transmission, it's worlds stronger than the old DSM AWD transmissions. The gears, synchros and overall design is much better and it'll handle just about everything except "don't give **** abuse". Note I'm not claiming that you or anyone drives the car like this...but trying to show it who's the boss by shoving it into gears is not going to reward you with a better shifting transmission.

I'd check your clutch adjustment and maybe inspect the clutch; most of the problems with the transmission revolve around the clutch not being adjusted properly.

As for the transfer case, well it's not good practice to drive the pinion with the ring but if designed properly it'll work fine. Did Mitsubishi design it right? For the most part...I'd use a little more material here & there and make the gears larger but so would Mitsubishi's engineers if the accountants didn't run/ruin the show...

Overall Mitsubishi made an honest effort to build a bang for the buck super car for those on a budget. As for things wearing out from racing it or just chasing your own shadow that will happen over time with just about any car, especially when it can deliver the all around performance like the EVO.

I guess so far I've been lucky.. no problems at all really. After adding a exedy twin disc shifting has improved.. I do get tired of driving the car because I'm always thinking about breaking something (even though I haven't)

I know what you mean. I'm always listening for sounds and turning the music off when I think I hear something.
