MITS giving me a tranny

OK, heres the story. been having a problem with mis fires, so i took car to the dealer, so they called the trouble shooting line and all this. So yea then i get this call in the moring sayin they are ordering a tranny for the car. Im just like what, is it free? they go yea, so i say sounds good. Then he asks me if i want to replace the clutch be no labor charge and i can get oem or pick my own. So yea i have 54000 on the car so i guess why not replace the clutch. SO im just wondering if anybody knows or has picked out a cluthc they are happy with. Thanks

Depends on the mods you are planning on. If going for aftermarket turbo go with a twin plate. Sticking around 300-450 go with ACT.

Must be nice! I have the act clutch right now and its great. The drivability of it is amazing, and it grabs much harder than stock.

Apparently on some of the cars, there are noises/resonance produced by the transmission, getting transferred into the engine (through the crank I assume) which the ECU is interpretting as a P0300 misfire code, I have to assume that some of these cars are also suffering performance degradation as a result.

This is happinging to my friends 03. The trans is loud as hell when the clutch isn't depressed and now he's getting a PO300 code. It's too modded to take it to the dealer to have them do anything for it.

Malibujack or anyone for that matter, does any one know if it's the TOB or the input shaft that is making this noise? My 05 is starting to get loud aswell

I just had my trans rebuilt by Mitsu under warranty. I had 30k and the stock clutch was less than 1/3 worn. Everything else in the clutch including the flywheel looked brand new. Since there was no labor involved I just had a new stock disc installed so as to start fresh with a whole new trans. If they would have offered to install an aftermarket clutch, I would have gone for an ACT street disc setup. Of course, I would have had to pay for that clutch, just not the labor.

Sounds like the dealer took your car out for a little "test-drive" and f'ed it all up...misfires ands trans are not related...

Good for you! ... if you want a slightly stiffer and stronger clutch go for an ACT one ... if you like the softer feel of the stock one, get a new stocker. It seems like you know how to drive you car, so clutch wear won't be a problem ...

On my car, as the TOB is beginning to wear, I can hear the assembly getting a little louder, I'm not 100% sure if its the clutch fork, TOB, or just something in the idler shaft thats getting noisier though.

This issue is partly why most people don't recommend using aftermarket fluids in the TC and Tranny, since using "better oils" also results in more noise (different levels of viscosity and shock tolerance in the fluids) among other reasons.. LOL

I'm still using stock fluid. And how would the fluid have anything to do with the TOB or clutch fork?
