spun bearings

Hi All,

Once you spun your bearings... what steps does it take to make your car running right again?

Please advise....

Crank has to come out of the car. Not sure of any machine work although some is probably likely.

Is this due to low oil level or oil starvation due to excessive g-forces on a track? Sorry for the newbie type question from someone who's not a newb.

A horrible knocking noise at idle, you may also feel some knocking through the clutch pedal (in my case I did).

Oil starvation/over revving which can stretch the rod bolts

I have had the pleasure (not on my Evo). Crank went to the grinders. New bearings one welded up journal all journals ground, crank straightened, rods sized, new beraings. I would go to a stroker kit at this point instead of repairing the damage. You will have a better motor at just a little more cost. OH! Get an oil pressure gauge.

you will need to dissasemble the engine (block) and get the block checked out and possibly machined. you will also need a new crank or if on a cheap budget you can get the crank journals ground and get some aftermarket Clevite bearings. although this is not recommended because the cranks are hardened and this will weaken it. get the rods checked and reconditioned. check your oil pump or replace it. it is 2xx from mitsu. when taking out the all the bearing you need to note where they came from because all the bearings are different and have markings on them. this will tell mitsu which ones you need for your engine. there are also marks (stampings) on the bottom of the block for each cylinder and also marks on the crank. for what bearing were spun you will not be able to tell what the marking were so if you are wanting factory bearings then you will need to get it all measured with a micrometer to see which one you actually need. i dont think i missed anything but good luck. if you have any questions feel free to PM me.
