Sounds like a .10 radio shack resistor. Id be interestd in the details...

I dont even understand what it does... it seems that is simply lowers the voltage from the coolant temp sensor to the ecu. And how much damn gas does the ECU dump in when it gets hot? Doesnt seem like it is a 20hp difference to me but who knows. Good job on being intuitive though, glad to see people are thinking of unconventional ways of making power.

It should work well at the track because of the extreme load and high temps. The stock ECU adds fuel and cuts timing IIRC when the coolant temp exceeds 90 C (?) to help prevent knock. Think about turning on the AC and the power lost. If you have race gas, knock should not be a problem.

<<< waiting for David Buschur to chime in and tell us if we can run this on daily street cars or not. Oh yeah and of course what exactly this chip changes.

maybe im wrong. but i feel like the "chip" is going to help cars out that ALREADY have a reflash/tuned ecu by making that tune even "slightly more aggresive" because that chip will set up the ecu to be running on race gas while it is active??

if so... where do i sign up!

The actual whp gains are shown in the above dyno sheet - its not speculation - it works.

It would help stock cars also.

Of course my reflash tune is optomized for a certain coolant temprature zone - this chip merely pegs the collant temp signal at that sweet spot range and negates the extra agressive factory collant temp enrichment which is not needed on race fuel.

No use - only helpful on stock ecu cars

Exactly.

Interestingly - the stock radiator really sucks.

On my race car making 667 whp the collant temps rise less on a 1/4 mile pass than on a bone stock evo.

Lower temp thermostat and extra capacity radiator are good ideas on any evo.

So I understand that this is for race gas applications since the excessive coolant enrichment is made to prevent knock... where as the race gas will do the same so this will stop the coolant enrichment that was there to do the race gas's job...

So my question is, will this produce the same results on a car using methanol injection to prevent knock for everyday use? If so, definitely interested... and do you have an install write-up?

That's probably what it is.

I don't get this at all lol, you just plug this thing in and get 20whp or you need to have it tuned aswell? Also would you use it for daily driving or only plug it in when you goto the track?
