O2/Downpipe Bolt Size

I was wondering what the thread size and general specs of the 2 bolts that hold the downpipe to the O2 Housing. Reason im asking, Trying to put a DP on my buddies Evo, Get under there and BANG!! No spring bolts, the Stock DP is bolted directly to the O2, He bought it used, so i figured the kid before him had DP on there and maybe didnt put it back together right. So we go to loosen the first bolt and the head spins right off it. Better off Drilling it out and retapping it or just putting a grade 8 bolt through with a nut on the end?

All I know is that the stock downpipe spring-bolts are 14mm. Does your friend have the stock or aftermarket downpipe on the car right now? I'd also make sure the donut gasket is still on the O2 housing when you get the downpipe off. Chances are it isn't because if the former owner used regular bolts that means his downpipe did not use the donut gasekt. Also be sure to check if the O2 flange is not bent from the bolts being so tight.

Thanks ill look into it. It is the stock downpipe, but the car definatly had a lot of work done to it prior to him buying it, and then it looks as if it was all taken out before the sale. Anyone else, the Thread type/size would be great, i need to know what size Tap to use.

WORKS has several OEM DP bolts laying around. If you need a couple, just give us a call.

holy thread revival!

The bolt's size is m10x1.25, not sure how long though. If I were to guess I would say about 7cm. It's best if you get the oem bolts though because they have the springs on them.

No joke!

I have a set of springs and bolts sitting in front of me, ready to go in my 5. Here is the part numbers:

MR597273 - Spring x2
MR597271 - Bolt x2

Bolt measures 7.3cm exact from base of the bolt head to end of the thread. You can just drill it out and use a nut and bolt. Is it a stock downpipe? Youll also need a 2 bolt gasket if you plan to go that route. And depends on which aftermarket downpipe you are using. Some were designed to use the stock donut gasket (AMS) others are just bolts and 2 bolt gasket (Buschur). The spring/bolt is only necessary if using the stock donut gasket.
