EGT Probe Questions
hey,
i have a stewart warner egt gauge that i installed when i did my boost and oil pressure gauge, but i never mounted the egt probe because i ran out of time. i was planning on mounting it on the #2 runner on the exhaust manifold like the evomoto directions. i don't want to cut out any of my cusco heatshield so i'm planning on mounting it just before where the heatshield starts (about 2 inches from the head). i'm just worried that the probe is too long (its about an inch and a half from the top of the threads to the tip) for the manifold runner. does anyone know how thick the manifold is? how big the runner is inside? the probe looks pretty similar to the autometer one in shape and size. anyone with any advice/help? thanks

The probe should have a locking-type sleeve, so when you tighten to the manifold, the sleeve holds the probe whereever you want it. I put mine in the second runner like evomoto as well, and just cut a notch in my buschur heat shield.
The manifold is only about 1/8 inch thick +. I placed the tip about an 1/8 inch from the bottom of the runner. Make sure you have a brand new tap too, and go all the way down to about 4-5 threads from the top of the tap. My new tap turned blue from the heat from running the car while tapping. Good luck getting a drill that close to the motor, you will need a super long bit, and a tap extension would not be a bad idea, to clear the valve cover.
