Clutch
Clutch
Hey everyone Im new to the forums. Im not really even sure if Im posting under the right topic but its about my clutch. I have a '03 evo 8 and I think my clutch is slipping alot. Is there a way to adjust it or something cause when I drive my rpms go up just my car doesnt move as fast as it should. Hopefully someone can help me. I dont really know much about cars. I'd take it to a mitsubishi dealer ship but I bought my car in Washington and put it on a ferry to Juneau, Alaska where I live and we dont have a dealership here. Okay, Well, I'll try to provide you guys with what ever info you need to help me figure out whats wrong with my car, but I do think its the clutch. Hopefully I dont need a new one I just got the car not too long ago maybe 3-4 months ago.
thanks everyone,

because you're clutch friction materials are down to the bottom, it's slipping and not grabbing.
need a new clutch.
it could be the dealer who did it by having other people test drive the car.
did you get it new? how many miles when you got it and how many miles do you have?
do you drag? how do you launch your car? etc.

I agree, you need a new clutch, and as mentioned it's only gonna get worse the more you drive it. Most people only get under 20K miles on their stock clutch, mine had 22K when it started slipping. Be prepared to spend $800-1000 for clutch and labor depending on the shop you go to, Mitsu would be way more. Good luck and welcome to the club
Pretty common unfortunately... I would also like to know how many miles you have on your car, since it is on 03, and you said you have only had it for a few months. If someone owned it before you, they probably smoked the clutch. And, as stated above, the average is somewhere around 20k miles out of the stocker... I wouldn't really know though, cause I replaced mine at 7k... good luck. If you do it yourself, you can do it for around 500 bucks, give or take.
