Hey guys I own an 04 EVO RS with simple mods.. full turbo back MBC, SAFCII, FMIC. Just yesterday my rs stopped making power at around 3k rpm. The boost gauge reads 3psi before the car bogs down hard. I am able to hear the psss sound before spool up, which I assume is the waste gate opening. The noise that follows is a whooshing air sound. It is almost like the impeller is not spinning.. Any ideas? Im going to take if off this weekend and see for myself.

Also, I did check the MBC and everything is normal there. The issuse happened when a I went into 2nd from 3rd to pass a truck... Perhaps something is just stuck? thanks

 

boost leak, probably massive. You car prob idles fine because the leak only opens under boost. get a pressure tester

 

I have heard of this problem before, and the guy had a major boost leak as previously stated...

 

Boost leaks suck.....just what i have to look forward to in the near future

 

I cant believe I did not check this before.... The IC piping into the manifold was not clamped on... It must have come off and caused the issue. Just curious, would the impeller continue to spin or would the ECU tell it not to? I would assume the latter since I do not believe I heard the a noise. thanks

 

yes but it will because there is exhaust going through it
