Anyone have issues with Dynpacks and their clutches?
Anyone have issues with Dynpacks and their clutches?
I just had my car dyno'd on a Dynapack last Saturday. For those who dont know, the Dynapack is the dyno where you bolt your hubs directly to the machine. The dyno will stop immediately if you let off the gas so no spinning up or down on rollers. The upshot of this is that the car has to be started in the gear you are dynoing. In my case, this was 4th gear.
My car did 3 runs and that evening, my clutch started slipping. It slipped once that night and again this afternoon. My car is an '05 with 3200 miles on it. Mods are Hallman@21.75psi (in 4th), Megan TBE, K&N drop-in, and JDM MR BOV. The car has been down the strip 3 times, each time launching off the 5k limiter.
I just dont see any other reason why my clutch would be slipping already and it seems like too much of a coincidence that it happened the night after I ran. Needless to say, Im pretty annoyed that my car is in need of a clutch less than 3 months into ownership.
Anyone else?

Not the dyno's fault. I have dynoed on a dynapack more times than I can count. The dynapack does not "load up" the hub motor/generator sets until the specific RPM that the operator inputs is reached. Otherwise you would never be able to dyno the car. Imagine trying to start off in 4th gear on the street

Here is how you tell if that is what happened.... did he stall it a bunch of times trying to get it going on the dyno? If not, then the MG's were freewheeling like they should have been. I can't imagine starting in 4th gear without stalling out the car.
