The heat is on... Please help!!
Hey, got a little problem with my A/C. But first a little history... (if you don't want to read the history, go to the bottom for my questions.)
In November I got into a wreck. The shop that fixed my car did a crappy job. I kept hearing a "flatulating" sound whenever the A/C clutch would engage. By May, the A/C was completely out of refridgerant. I had it serviced by another shop. They checked for leaks and found nothing. After the service, it was blowing cold again and with no "flatulating". Which was fortunate because I live in Phoenix, AZ.
So for about a month the A/C worked without a hitch. Then I had to get my car serviced again for something completely different. When it was in the dealership they noticed there was something wrong with the heater box and replaced it (under warranty). Then about a week after they did, it seems the A/C gradually stopped working again.
I went to the store to get a A/C pressure Gauge to recharge the system. I started the car, let it idle for 3-5 mins before attaching the gauge to the bib. To my suprise the pressure was not low, but It was too high. It burried the needle. Now, I don't believe I heard the A/C clutch engage while the car was idleing.
Finally to my questions...
1. Was the system overcharged because the clutch did not engage to release the pressure in the system?
2. Could the heater box replacement have anthing to do with this?
This is a pressing issue for me (suppose to be 115 today
), so any help would be appreciated greatly!!
