Very nice review . I've been thinking of getting this unit, especially since I have water injection and need the strongest spark I could get in that combustion chamber.

Thanks guys.. I completely overlooked describing exactly what the unit actually is for those of us who don't see these things every day.. I'll add a description of what the unit is, and its purpose and basically how it works later today when I have some time (for you poor souls who were expecting to learn everything there was about it and are still not exactly sure what its for)

If possible, can you show a picture of where you mounted it and how you did it.

Thanks!

You guys would laugh at the temporary mount hack (Ziptied to a wiring harness) I did for it to test the unit. The bracket I'm making is designed for this unit, and my MAF Calibrator unit but I will have something added to the review consisting of photos by the weekend. I ended up a few days behind on another project so photos and a permanent mount location didn't happen in time for the review.

I have been running this unit for the last year and love it as well. I mounted mine on the firewall to the left of the intake manifold and that works great.

Nah, your definitely correct, in reality, if everything on your car is running optimally, you really shouldn't feel much of a difference.. This is the kind of modification that is like a fuel pump or pressure regulator, you really aren't aware you needed it, until you needed it.. and you would hopefully not notice anything changed..

I agree. When I installed my Crane ignition box on my Talon, I noticed that my idle was a little smoother and the car pulled smoother to redline. My spark plugs also lasted longer with the addition to the water/alcohol mixture I was using at the time. I never saw any gains in my 1/4 mile times or trap speeds. I would imagine the results would be similiar with the HKS DL1-II on my Evo.

It sure would be disappointing to get this expecting an improvement and then see nothing. How would one know if their stock ignition was falling down?

The improvement MalibuJack described sounds similar to what a lotta people described after they installed some ground wires. I felt similar improvements after I installed my ground wires. Smoother idle and better throttle response. WOT performance more or less felt the same.
