hmm, I think the Power FC should be able to do that. But for that money go for GEMS. Especially as you'll have support in England for it. Hehehe, my laptimes at the Ring aren't worth mentioning really, I've only driven 6 laps myself so far. The last one was about 11:30 (timed with the car clock ) and it was a partly wet and very slippery, especially with my shagged S-O2s. But new tires on Thursday!! Assimetricos.... jippiiii!! Will get a Ring pass for the year (about 500 euros ) next month I think, that way more laps...

be great to have a pass, did you read about N.rings oil problem, does he know what is was yet??
i know a gems would be better, but seeing as i am not the most mechanical minded person, i wanted something easy to set-up (bit like a more complicated sports ecu).
let me know what the tyres are like, as it is pissing with rain here and the SO1's are ****e, i nearly went straight on across a roundabout last night

Funnily enough I read about N.ring's problem, cause I wrote it!
The word on the street is that it's a broken turbo that caused all that....
The consensus on tires seems to be Pirelli P-Zero Assimetrico (Yellow, not the Rosso) when you're looking for a compromise between road and trackwork. Claude had them and liked them, Maxi too I think, Andre has them and likes them and then some rallymate of Claude said he thought they were the best roadtire for the Evo. Mione are going on the car this Thursday.

Damn, you answer fast Lee! I'm not getting any work done and have a ****load to do. Well, you have to set priorities, don't you. I get the tires for 198 Euros a piece + about 10 for fitting or something like that, not too bad.

no problem, add me to your messenger if you have one, makes stuff easier. Had a look at the Power FC, I don't see anywhere where it would be better than GEMS and I would rather trust motorsport stuff that has been made for the specific car rather than something that you need to buy some remote control for. The GEMS will be programmed through a laptop which if you don't have one you could borrow from a mate. Another point, I think the Power FC is 16 bit and the GEMS 32, although I'm not sure. Have a look at www.gems.co.uk and compare the functions. Suppose they would have exactly the same functions and exatcly the same price, which one would you go for, given that support for the APEXi would be from Japan?

my car is a 5,with "weak" pistons
and std rod bolts,
has been running 1.4 and above for 18months.
you wouldnt believe everything you read in "The Sun" would you ?
Then apply the same principles to your tuning .
if yours is a 6,then i doubt very much you will be melting pistons for a very long time,if,and only if,its set up properly.

Lee, the hold peak/auto peak function defines how long a peak value is held. F.e. with boost if you set it to hold, it will keep the maximum boost pressure that it has measured for as long as it hasn't been surpassed. The auto peak function changes the peak value more often, I think every time you accelerate it measures the peak and keeps until you accelerate again or something like that. With "setting up properly" mouton probably means that the fuelling timing, etc. has to be right in order to run those pressures for a sustained time. Gerrit's (N.ring) problem is a bit worrying in that respect for you Lee, cause he runs a Sports ECU with a boost controller and something went wrong in his engine. Whatever happened I don't know yet, but you have also take into account that his car has only been used for very hard driving, so the stresses on the engine are a lot more than in your car I suppose. Then again his peak pressure was only 1,45..... My guess is that the problem is probably not only due to high boost pressure, but it could be that the Sports ECU underfuels at certain boost pressures or something....
