eliminate boost taper with elec. boost control?

Is it possible or advisable to eliminate boost taper with electronic boost control by just upping the boost setting in the upper RPM ranges? This would be one way to run a good amount of boost up top without having a crazy high spike or too much boost in the detonation-prone midrange. Is this a good/bad idea?

well, the turbo is out of its efficiency range, so i wouldn't have it like that if you are beating the crap out of the car on the road course or something...but a 1/4 run with cooldown time shouldn't be a problem.

im going to bet it will still fall off 2-3psi though unless you use a pill

I've found that in the gears that I experience taper (1st & 2nd), the higher I set the boost, the quicker it tapers off down to 21 psi.

BTW, I bought a Profec B-spec II in hopes that I could eliminate, or at least slow the taper that I was getting with my MBC. It made a negligible difference. I think that the taper is partly due to the swelling of my intercooler hoses, and the limitations of our turbos.

I figure its just running out of piping and that the stock turbo hits its limits then, i run 24ish psi and it always tappers to 21 no matter how i tune my profec B. The thing sucked when i first got it but now its ok

I talked to a guy with an AVCR that says he holds boost completely to redline.

Is it possible the type of EBC has an effect on it?

And that it is possible to hold boost to redline with an EBC?
