Anyone know what this is <see pics>

While removing items in the engine bay to prepare for my upcoming clutch install I ran across a homemade looking plate with two bolts holding it to the top of the transmission (kinda right where the rad hose goes...under where the MAF went sorta). Does anyone have any idea what this is or what was supposed to be there originally??

Thanks for any input!

I think it used to be a bracket that helps hold the transmission clutch line. Not positive but pretty sure.

Looks like what TrinaBabe said, or could be a mounting plate for a homemade grounding kit (that's one of the grounding points).

Oh n/m that's not the grounding point I'm thinking of (I don't think it is anyhow, hard to remember).

Wow, I actually know exactly what this is That bracket is made by HKS and it holds the clutch fork pivot . The reason its like that is because you have a HKS Twin Disc GD Max in there. Unless of course someone replaced that clutch and just reused the HKS piece instead of using a OEM pivot. The HKS pressure plate has a special clip that holds onto the throw out bearing in a way that it cannot be realeased unless you pull the pivot rod from the top of the tranny. In your case you would remove both 10mm bolts and slide hammer the rod out if you ever replace the clutch. See I told you I knew what that was

Ugh...you gotta be kidding me :-( This whole project is to replace the POS HKS because it is shot.... So does this mean I am missing some stock part to put a "regular" clutch back in it?? If so...what is it called...so I can go throw more money at the stealer <shaking head in utter disgust>....

Boy...I am glad I asked....I can just see myself under the car thrashing like hell trying to get the TOB to let loose <snicker>

Thanks!

I take it you bought the car used. Do you know who sold it to you, and what else they did not tell you?

Ok, you can relax a bit since you can simply reuse the HKS rod again even if you are replacing the clutch with a factory style clutch. You will have to take the rod out to remove the tranny and reinstall it with once you get the new throw out bearing installed. It will actually make the job easier

Thanxs man I have always noticed that you are by far the most fair and well spoken vendor in the forums. You never seem to put down anyone elses products yet you carefully explain the pros and the cons to all the members. Good Job
