Why does whole car shake in 1st gear?

Something strange happens mostly early in the morning when I first drive away. Mostly when it's cool. Doesn't happen much though. When I ease off the clutch when I am taking off in first and I give it gas, the whole car seems to shake and vibrate and you can hear metal vibrating as well. Sometimes I punch the gas more, thinking it will disappear but it shakes even more and vibrates loudly. So I let off and try again. Then after it has warmed up it doesn't happen anymore. Anybody experience this? Am I hurting anything? Thanks for any input.

I have the same prob only when the car is cold. As soon as its up to temp everything is cool. I thought maybe the clutch was slipping at first but usually it slips more when its hot not cold.

I don't hear metal vibrating but in the morning when my car is cold and I hit reverse it shakes a little. Once it's warm it stops. Doesn't do it going forward either just reverse.

me too,(only did it once) Its caused by the engine being cold, oil not up to temperature. I always warm up my car espially first time in the morning.I usually I wait until the water temp is up to normal until I drive. (example) when you wake up, try running down the street.(cold engine). now streech and run down the street alot better huh.....(warm engine).

I was just looking for info about this...
It's just kinda recent that if the car is not warmed up (needle not pass the first line on temp gauge), I go into reverse and the car would shake and I can hear metal clunking as soon as the car goes. It doesn't seem super bad, but I can hear it and some friends heard it and looked at me as if something was broken.

I replaced the stock fluid with Royal Purple Synchromax, so maybe the thinner fluid might really need to be warmed up. Either that or I'm thinking about switching to another brand..maybe Pennzoil Synchromesh? Once it's warmed up nicely, the car has no problems shifting or anything like that.

It almost feels like the wheels are spinning. I know they aren't but you can really feel it in your clutch foot.

I do believe this is the clutch - uneven wear on the surface at least. My replacement clutch is kevlar so I can slip it when I want. After any event w/a launch, if I didn't launch particularly well this can happen. It goes away after I am nice to it for a week or two it seems. And yes, I know it's not really "healing" it's just the wear evening out or my engagement technique modifies for something more smooth ...

I just always let my car warm up for a minute or two before I drive.

Let the car idle for 2-3 minutes (allows the clutch fluid to warm up). It's cold clutch fluid/

I thought it had to do with how light our flywheels are.

i have this exact issue and the dealership told me that it could be "hot spots" on the flywheel. This makes the car shake violently and once the clutch disc is warm enough it will stop. Anyone know if this is correct?
