HKS 150 cell Cat

Hi there!

It's now some weeks since I installed a HKS Drager II catback, K&N drop-in and an Autronic replacement board with the big solenoid on my MR.
The car is tuned on 1.5Bar in 1st and 2nd, form 3rd up it goes to 1.55 Bar quickly and the on a stable 1.5Bar.
The car is great fun to drive now!

I sure wonder if the stock cat can cope with that or if I better should get a HKS metal-cat with 150 cells.

Does anybody have any experiance with this cat? Is it worth or neccessary? Any power-gains with the stock dp on? And most important: faster spool-up?

Thanks for your answers!

So nobody uses a HKS highflow catalytic converter?
They all drive stock cats or testpipes?

What a pitty!

I think most people use other cats like helix or AMS or companies like that.

Where did you find an HKS hi-flow cat? I didn't see them on their website. I know on their site cats are listed on exhaust parts there is no link.

Thanks for the posts, lads!

Indeed, I live in Switzerland and we have some people selling HKS systems.
I would say that I am quite lucky, because the mentioned tuning was done by / over my official dealer, so no warranty-problems then! He also sells the HKS-parts.

Well, actually it doesnt matter which brand the cat has. What I really wonder about is the effect a highflow cat has on your car if you have mods like mentioned above. Further I wonder whether you NEED to go to a highflow cat at about 350hp and most important for me (as I youse the car as an everyday-anti-depressant) the spool up. Does it get more aggressive, resp. responsive at low and mid revs?

Cheers!

Hi Kunz

A high flow cat has a big effect on the responsiveness of your engine.

In the USA most catalysts used are 200 up to 400 cell ceramic catalysts. But for better flow you should use a 100 cell stainless steel catalyst.

I can get these fitted into your EVO system for very competitive prices, but can also only supply the part, so you can fit yourself.

If interested - give me a shout on richimu@datacomm.ch
