Question whine-like noise from engine

First, I'm not a engine expert so please bear with me. I have 05 MR. I heard this whine noise from the engine which distinct from other car. I'm not saying that this is an issue or problem. I'm just wondering where this sounds come from. I don't think it's from the turbo but maybe I'm wrong.

Thanks for the info.

Under what circumstances do you hear this whine? Is it at idle or full throttle? I need some more details.

I have about 8300 miles and I believe I can hear the whine even on idle. When on acceleration, I can't hear it since it is covered by the sound of the exhaust. Hope this info helps.

oh... by the way, everything is stock except of the exhaust and TT. But the TT is off. The exhaust is Greddy Ti.

update: When I just start the car, on idle, the sound follows the rev... I guess it's tranny? never did a hard launch. Like I said, I don't think it's a problem since I got no drivability issue. I'm just wondering where that sound come from.

Thanks for the inputs.

whining from the TC at low RPM is normal...it sounds like that's what you're hearing, but then again, that only happens when you're moving...

You wouldn't hear the TC though at idle. It wouldn't make noise until your moving. It may be the throw out bearing. Try pushing in your clutch when you hear it and see if it stops or changes pitch.

sounds like your tob, does it go away when you push in the clutch? My tob has been loud as hell since the day i got my car, all the way through the rpms. good news is its not tc since it does it at idle.

Let me try pusing the clutch and update all of you. By the way, what's tob? Again, thanks for the input and info.

Yup... The sounds disappear when I push the clutch. So it's TOB?

Any huge negative impact due to this whining TOB? Is this something that I need to worry about?
