Tapping noise after cam install

I DID bleed the lifters timzcat!

Just wondering how long it took for others for the noise to go away...it seemed a bit long on my car. When I started the, car the tapping noise was there...let it idle for a good 7-8 minutes...no change. revved it a bit to 2500-3k or so and it went down some. drove .5 mile down the street, made no difference.

After that I drove about 2.5 miles to a gas station and it seemed to have completely gone away by then (prob. a good 15-20 mins of the motor running).

Is that normal/OK?? I was concerned that it took too long for the tapping to go away, and that perhaps I did some damage?

Sounds normal based on my experience. It takes a bit for it to go away entirely.

I am not getting worked up...I'm just frustrated that post after post is a reply not regarding the question I asked. I stated my question very clearly

This thread is cracking me up. "lifters will be louder than the stocks" WTF does that even mean? Anyway, I put cams in 3 weeks ago and the ticking went away in about the time yours did. I did a head gasket over the weekend and had to lap in a couple of valves while it was apart and the ticking was about the same again, went away after about 10 minutes or so.

Who me? Of course I bled the lifters, as did the original poster. I don't have a problem with ticking and neither does he. The question was how long did it take for the ticking to go away, that's all.

took me a while to understand it...i think he meant that the lifters will tick louder with higher lift/duration cams than they would with stock cams. Again, not what I was asking.
