Just curious but do you hear the lifter noise everytime you start the car when it's cold or is it gone now?

After the 272/272 install my lifters were quite and then one day after an oil change I started to hear the lifter noise and heard it ever since during start-up.

I just put mine in last night. I'm not sure...all I know is that the tick was loud enough at the first start to be heard inside the cabin. This morning when I started it to come to work, I couldn't hear anything.

This afternoon when I started it at lunch to hear the idle , it was fine once again

Mines are loud enough to be heard inside the cabin too. This happens during a cold start-up and the lifter noise would go away minutes later. Like I said weird thing was that it started after an oil change

Mine make no noise at all - cold or warm. If you have one that is noisy only on start up it may have collapsed and needs to be replaced. Not sure what role the oil change would have unless you changed weights or something.

Collapsed? Can you elaborate more? Does this mean I need new cams or just need to check for something?

Well the lifter can pump up (sometimes), but will bleed off pressure when the engine is not running. Then every time you have a cold start up it ticks until it pumps up again.

i remember reading about the "italian" lifter breakin to prevent the ticking after cam installation, you drive up to 5-6k rpms and drive it around for a few minutes a few times in between cool-down.... i know its funny but its what i read... only if i remember where i read it from.

I'm getting paranoid! So do I need to change the lifters out, cams out, or what . Car seems to run fine and noise decreases as the car gets to temperature

I might have had a collapsed lifter , I DID NOT bleed mine down when the cams went in , they ticked-alot . So insted of bleeding the stocker and maybe have 1 or 2 lifters f-ed up (collapsed) I just got some "new" lifters ,took the stocker out , bleed the new ones , put them in and the ticking is much better ! Now it just sound like a stock 4g63 ticking now (ie maybe 1 lifter is ticking ever now and then vs befor all 16 rasing h3ll)
BTW here is the link where i got them form
