Odd INTERMITTENT tapping Noise !?

I know this car makes lots of noises but this one is intermittent, has NO rythm to it and somewhat loud, tapping noise. It went away after a while and seems to be comming from near the timing / drive belt area.

It has 50k plus miles and hasnt made this noise in months since i've had it

06 IX

IVE SEARCHED but most were about lifters rythmic tapping

I will be taking it to the dealer but if anyone knows where to look, or what it might be, I will pass it on to the dealer

HMMM, would have to think about it--in order to do it you would have to over rev your motor and float the valve, collapsing the lifter thus dumping the rocker..
Nahhh that can't be a bad thing.

Common issues with the IX. See link below. It's even a sticky i the Engine/Turbo/Drivetrain section. I linked you right to page 36 where the issue is outlined in red.

May or may not be the issue ut it's certainly worth a look

check your downpipe, it could be your gasket between the turbo and downpipe. I had the same symptoms before.
