Harman Test and Tune Results

Interesting Birthday to say the least, Found out I am Voyeur. Thats right I am a Voyeur-holic and my name is Aaron. Ian and his Voyuer-istic Habits have corrupt my once pure mind. I hate you Ian , I hate you.

During my 4 hr test and tune ( birthday present from Harman ) we Dyno'd my Different Setups

Stock`~ 100octane

Vs

Helix TBE W/ HFC, K&N drop-in , FP, MBC set at 23 Without Flash~ 104Octane

Vs.

Helix TBE W/ HFC, K&N drop-in , FP, MBC set at 23 With Harman Custom Dynotune ~104 Octane

See attached Graph for the three Layouts. (sorry No Amr shots in this one )

http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/wetoddimage.wtdr/wMTAzMDI2MTZzNDEzZGZkMzF5NTQx.jpg

Blue = stock ~ 100 Octane
Red = Modded untuned ~ 104 Octane
Green = same Mods as Red but with Custom Harman Flash.

Overall, I am extremely happy. customer service is awesome, picked up picked up 50 WHP from a tune and drivability is extremely better , Gas mileage is no longer 14Mpg But closer to 20Mpg . Well worth the 499$ !!!

Oh, Incase everyone didn't know, Its 499$ for a custom flash with dyno tuning. Now when we add THe Hotside on the 24th , It will only cost 200$ for another custom dyno reflash from Harman. Not to shabby

Oh, and I am trying to convince Dan that it would be a good Idea to flash back to stock after the Hotside in stall so that we have comparable numbers for the internet ****** like myself who get off on that type of stuff.

Thanks for reading my book,

Aaron

your mileage was due to you freeing up your engine's breathing capability. Only standalones can alter your closed loop operation (which is where your cruise mpg comes from).

Looks like it has some knocking activity as the graph is not smooth up might want to check for detonation maybe a knock link will tell for sure, also after 7k your power is gone, dropping like a coconut man. Should check your tunning up top, just a suggestion.

On the green dyno run, looks like it's pulling timing.

Are the lines so choppy due to ignition issues @ 24 psi? That doesn't look right to me. Shouldn't it be smoother?

I've dynoed at Harman before and my curve looked "choppy" like his. I think it may be their dyno but im not sure.

Newbie question here: How can you guys look at a dyno graph and say that the car seems to be pulling timing?

It's choppy cus SAE smoothing is set to 0 on that graph, most other graphs you see have it set to 5.

On the green graph where the "dip" is on both the hp and tq lines looks like pulled timing, but I'm no expert.

Interesting thoughts. I Know for a fact that Dan said the car wasn't pulling timing and that the dip in the graph is prevalent on the other Two as well. He said He would Fine tune it the 24th and see if he can remove it.

I don't really know what it is aswell, Dan's Guess was Pulling timing aswell and he said he was going to back the tune of in that area so that it wouldn't pull that much timing. We will have to see on the 24th when Dan gets his hands on it

I don't know about the tuning on the upper end of the powerband. i will ask Dan on the 24th, I really can't feel it as a matter of fact i am having trouble staying below 8k. I freak myself out when I see it there but I just can't shift fast enough I am used to seeing it hit7k and then shift and never hit the limiter, with the tune and the limiter removed i have to begin shifting at 6700~

any more suggestions? I am taking notes and will present concerns to Dan the 24th. thanks for the input

Just so you know, the ECU pulls timing when there is detonation, in other words detonation = kncking which is BAD for your engine, too much knocking like on that graph will fry your engine. Im not making this up, your dyno graph says it all, too many bumps in all of the curve. Better to save your engine with a more conservative tune and not that agressive.
