For a Street / Track / Strip car I would recommend 264in. / 272ex. or straight 272's. If you are looking for a really agressive cam that makes good power on a large turbo as Eric stated I would go with the 280's. You can run straight 272's on a daily drive if you would like but I know some people do not care for a lopey idle, and sometimes if not tuned properly they can cut down on driveability. I hope this helps.

Why not work with adjustable cam gears? Just asking. We recently installed a 272/272 setup and after some advance in timing and several dyno runs we had more power and torque all throughout than when we ran it without any adjustments.

Yeah I was just about to ask this same question. Seems to me as if having the ability to adjust shouldn't hurt, but then again I'm somewhat new to all of this

I also had a question that has been discussed in other threads, but I am just hoping to get some updated info and perhaps info from more people w/ experience... Has anybody used Buddy Club cams? How do they work, and has anyone ever compared them w/ HKS cams? Buddy Clubs seem to be less $ on the little bit of Internet shopping that I have done. If anyone has anymore info on them, that'd be cool.

Can someone provide some insight on 264/272 vs 272/264?

Our 272/272 was done with buddy club cams. We gained 16whp with them on a dynodynamic. I'm sure with a flash we could really extract more power out of them. I'll post the dyno sheets if anybody cares to see them. I think that Buddy Club makes quality products, and they are a bit on the less expensive side which is also a plus.

Adjustable cam gears can slip time. That is the reason why some people don't like them.
For the little power you gain it's not worth $2000 or in risk. Plain and simple.

We use 272s on our shop EVO 500+ h.p. but also on my Street EVO, 300+. Only way to define "THE BEST" is to compare all these cams head to head and in various combinations. It would make a great tech article for a magazine.

On the stock turbo, both provide very similar peak hp numbers. But the 272/264 intake/exh combo seems to hold better power in the 7000-7800rpm range in exchange for a little less torqe just after spool-up (3800-4000rpm). Basically, it doesn't have that cute little torque spike/sharp angle in the midrange. Basically a trade off.

hope that helps,
shiv

less neck-break affect with the smaller exhaust cam.

You have a lot less room to improve on the power band with a small exhaust cam there. The more power you add, or free up on the car, the more you need a big exhaust cam.
