Advice on clutch

My clutch recently started slipping in 5th gear...It's not too serious of a problem right now, the revs would shoot up from 3k to 3500 and lower a couple hundred to like 3300 whenever I press the throttle..but the car's fully capable of driving

I asked for a quote from Mitsu and it was $1460 including new flywheel, clutch, bearings, install, everything; they said driving it shouldn't be too big of a problem now but later on it will...I also went to AAMCO and they said the same thing but I should come back in 40k miles (I have 24k right now)

I was wondering if the quote from Mitsu is a reasonable price and does the expected mileage (40k) from AAMCO give me a good enough margin of time to drive my car before the clutch dies out or has anyone had the same problem and replaced the clutch with an OEM or aftermarket?

Should I just wait till later to replace the clutch or now...it kills me to see the revs build up at a certain point and lower...it just doesn't feel normal... I'm going off to college in 2 days and I won't be bringing my car so there won't really be a burden on my clutch + mileage...any opinions, advice?? thanks so much in advance

1460?!?! You can get an aftermarket clutch and install for 1k. You probably don't need a new flywheel yet, just get the shop to shave it. You probably still have 40-50% of your clutch left.

The quoted price from your dealer is pretty damn high. Most dealers install stock clutches for about 1000 bux. And i'd replace it within the next few thousand miles. I'd be amazed if it lasted till 40k

Once it started slipping at 5th gear you don't have much room. You're not going to make it to 40k from your current 24k. They probably estimated base on normal car.

Yeah! ACT, reuse your flywheel and installation probably cost you around $1000.
~ $500 ACT clutch
~ $500 labor
------------
$1000
