Down pipe problems?

I just spent way to much time trying to put a Perrin exhaust on my 2005 MR only to find out the downpipe doesn't fit as it makes solid contact with the trans/tc.

Anyone else have this problem or have a fix other than returning the downpipe? This really sucks as I have a race on Monday so now have to put the entire stock exhaust back on.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I just made a post in the o2 sim thread..anyways..

If we are talking about 1/4" or less interference....Mark the areas that are rubbing with the DP installed. Remove the DP. Get the heaviest hammer you can (preferably brass..it's soft) and go to town flatening the area. As long as you don't get too crazy, you can create the clearance you need and it won't affect performance. If you have a torch available you can gently heat the rubbing area up so that it will be easy to flatten/clear. Good luck, PM me if you have any other q's -Gabe

Thanks for the reply but.......

Thanks for the advice, can't see beating the crap out of something I paid a lot of money for just to make it fit.

I found out that Perrin dp will only fit 03-04's so it's going back. I'll try you're suggestion about tightening from the back first just in case.

I have been looking for a dp that will fit an 05. I called Vivid Racing and they told me that the JIC dp fits. I was also told by Harman that the DC cat delete dp fits as well. Some members have also been able to make the Helix dp fit, but that needed some adjustment to make it fit. Hope that helps.
