UPDATE on my GSC cams please read

Greg from GSC read my previous post about my hairline cracks in my cams. He contacted me about this within 8 hours of my post and is sending me out a new set of cams overnight. I am in return sending him my old ones so that they can get them tested. He says that this is very uncommon and that's why he wants to get mine tested. This is the definition of GREAT customer service. I know that if I had bought HKS cams and had a problem that a rep from them wouldn't be contacting me like this and eager to get it resolved. I have no regrets with going with GSC and would do it again if I had to do it over. Jason

Yea the cool thing about it is I didn't contact them yet. I just wrote a post asking if what I had was something to be concerned about and he took it upon himself to contact me to get it resolved. He got to me before I had a chance to contact them.

All things considered you can't go wrong with them. The problem I had, was to my understanding, fairly isolated. I am very happy with my performance from my cams and now the top notch service. Highly recommended.

If you needed to pay a shop to install them again, does GSC cover that cost as well?

Its great to see true customer service like this... I wish EVERY vendor/company would follow suite.

However for the comment about the HKS cams... I dont believe there has ever been a problem with HKS cams, which is remarkable being the number of people who use them in 4G63s (1g, 2g, EVOs) is astronomical.

Well, I am having the same problem and so is my buddies Evo w/ their cams. So let me know the updates as soon as they come scherejs so I can know what to do. I contacted them about this around mid summer and we came to the conclusion that it was a sealant that was just wearing off. However, this is obviously not the case. Please keep this thread updated.

I will keep you updated. Greg said that he wants to get to the bottom of this asap. I will be sending mine out to him Monday morning. I guess he is then going to forward them to get some testing done to find out the reason for this. Hopefully it is just a few cases of this.

I'm not sure of the reimbursement of uninstalling and reinstalling because I put my first ones in myself and am going to do the second ones myself too. So it wasn't discussed between Greg and I. I also agree with you about potetial problems with HKS that haven't been hearc of. Every manufacturer has had bumps in the road here and there. Nothing is ever perfect in the business world. But I do know that GSC has perfected the customer service end of it.

Good to see GSC is providing good service. If my HKS cams has problems then I would immediately contact the vendor from where I purchased it form and let them handle it because I think HKS is too big its hard for them to provide this kind of service? Its like if your car broke down you would take it to your dealer first and then they would contact the manufacturer and get a replacement or something.

for me I went with HKS because they been in this business for a long time and their cams have been proven not on just every JDM car but also on almost every Evo model for many years so you cant go wrong with them. To me its worth the extra money because incase if something does fail its not going to be pretty. Were not talking about over $1000 of savings, its only 50 or 100 bucks. IMO if I had to buy GSC cams I would wait at least a year to make sure they are perfect and been proven on the Evo.

Hope your cams are fine and your Evo up and running again soon

Like I was told by Greg at GSC yesterday, I received my new v2 cams today. I'm gonna swap them out on sunday and send him my old ones. He is then going to have them x-rayed to see if it is actually cracks or just the coating. I'm sure he will keep you guys updated on the test results.
