Evo bogging down and backfiring when accelerating

My evo won't accelerate, as soon as the boost kicks in it sounds like its backfiring squence and slows down. What could cause this? Just checked the spark plugs but they seem to be ok. Trying to check the fuel filter but it hasn't been long since I serviced the car. Could this be a coil problem? Or spark plug? If it was a coil or spark plug wouldn't the car idle funny? Gas maybe? Please help, I practically sold the car but I can't hand it over if its doing that. Thanks!!

Nope, the car runs fine, sometimes it even accelerates more a less. No service lights turn on. What does that mean if its the misfire code....

It happens at all gears, as soon as the boost starts kicking in.

Just checked all the hoses, they are fine. Changed the fuel filter, its not that either. Now I guess its a electronical problem. Maybe a spark plug? Coils? Please help ya'll. Its an Evo 5 so I don't think it could be the misfire. The one dealership where I live has the software for my car but the two guys who work on my car are on vacation. Worst part is I sold the damn car but haven't receive the money since I haven't delivered the car. I can deliver the car if it doesnt accelerate. I tried pushing the throttle while in neutrel and it did the same thing as the boost came on.

i would seriously do a pressure test of the whole system. i had a very similar issue with one of talons once and it turned out to be a pretty big boost leak at my intake manny gasket. you can pm me if you want to know what symptoms i had or have any other questions. good luck working it all out and let us know what you find out.

Well, I seriously doubt its a leak, I took apart all the hoses and checked them.

My friend had the same problem with his RSX type S. As soon as he hit the throttle, it would do what you described. He got a SES light though and it was due to no oil being in the engine. He was down 3 whole quarts! Yes, he is a moron. Not sure what the code was though.

FUEL pump fuel pump fuel pump. I had this problem, make sure the spacers on the fuel pump are all reinstalled and the filter is good and not completely brown. Check the hose connections on the in-tank housing and make sure everything is tip-top.

I'm telling you, while you're out there check your fuel pump connections, wiring, spacers, all of it. I swear to you it is MOST likely the problem.
