TSB for tranny rattle, where is it?

I cant find the tsb for the reverse idel arm. I think I have this going on. When the ac is on and im stopped with clutch out I hear this rattling, like metal on metal.

Then I push the clutch in and it goes away. From what I have read this sounds like the Idel arm. And now I would like to be pointed in the right direction to find that TSB. I cant find Sheit on here, either its me or the search button.

Thanks in advance.

I had the same symptoms. They replaced the reverse idler assembly and it did nothing. Still rattles.

I did some very thorough tests of when it rattles and when it does not. I'm 90% sure it is the input shaft of the transmission (either the shaft or the bearings) rattling around.

Seems a lot of people have this noise, so I wouldn't worry too much about it, but just be forewarned, that TSB for the reverse idler might not fix it.

that is the throw out bearing that is making the rattling noise. Almost all TO bearings rattle after a few k miles.

Sorry, don't have the TSB (and it wasn't on my receipt, at least not that I could find). Search the forums, I think someone posted a link to NTSB or NHTSA website that has a search for recalls and TSB's.

Oh, and it is probably okay as is. At 34k, you may want to look into a new clutch, but if it isn't slipping, chattering, or otherwise misbehaving -- you are probably fine.

good luck,
AC

I have a copy of TSB-05-22-001 that covers the tranny rattle. If you would like a copy, I would be glad to email it to you.

my tranny has rattled with the a/c on, since day one. It's worse the hotter the transmission is also. I'm now at 41k miles, and it still sounds the same. I've heard 3 other newer EVO's in Houston make the same noise. Seems to be common, if not all together normal.
