you dont have to clean the injectors...you are fine...if you are really **** you can pull the injectors and ship them off to get them cleaned....if you run a tank dry, it doesn't start pulling crap into the injectors like soot or anything, thats why u have a fuel filter.

change the oil, get some higher octane in there and drive it...i think you are fine

So basically I creep home with alot of backfiring, shutdown, restarts! Engine oil light coming on and going off.
BAD BAD BAD idea! What mods do you have on your car? Do you still have the stock boost controller in place or do you have an MBC? If your car is tuned more aggressively than stock, driving hard like that on 87 most likely caused you to detonate BAD. It sounds like you might have spun a rod bearing. That tapping sound might be rod knock. Drain your oil and inspect for metal shavings in it. You might have clogged your oil filter causing the oil light to come on.

Do a compression test and be prepared to rebuild your motor. Let this be a lesson to you and everyone here! Don't listen to any gas attendant!

Wow...gas attendant don't know ****. Blow the crap out? You're supposed to take it easy and not drive like a madman in the first place. Never use fuel injector cleaner, it'll actually clog up the injectors. I say pull the motor.

Cant find the fuel filter...
Im thinking about changing the fuel pump, is the little fuel bag connected to the pump the only fuel filter in the system?

After the fuel draining and plug change, and oil change and reset the ECU...she's still backfiring and bogging down. Even with the high octane

sorry buddy, im just not sure if this crazy tune up is gonna fix anything. beating the crap out of ur car with 87 octane in it, even if it was mixed with 93, still probably only had an octane rating of 90-91 maybe. im not sure why people think that mixing gas in a car u can burn one before the other. they mix together because they are the same. if u put 2% milk in a half empty gallon of 1% milk, do u think ur gonna only be able to drink the 1% first? pretty sure they mix. might not be the best correlation but i think u get the idea.

this is also why people put 103+ octane in their cars at the track. to raise the octane level, but the car doesnt use up the old stuff first!
