Best allround turbo for 500 hp

Hi,

I know this has been discussed a lot but I can't find the general opinion so I start a new thread for this.

What do you guys think is the best turbo for autocross/road racing/dragracing combos?

I want at least 500 "real" hp which means at least 460 whp dynojet I guess... Best possible spool and response.

thanks.

Please motivate why you vote for a certain turbo. Right now I am thinking of the GT3076 turbo in first hand. I have a Greddy t67 25g now.

Well it depends on if you plan on using alky. If you aren't, your best bet would be the 3076 if you want descent spool/response. With a good tune (not sure what EMS your using) 450 whp is definite possibility on a dynojet. If you do an on using alky, the GT35 would be the better choice since you'll be getting well over 500 whp on a good tune. It all depends on how much lag your willing to put up with, and if it's mainly street or track driven. Good luck bro!

I am aiming for autocross/track driving, not dragracing. Not using alky injection.

How big difference is it in lag between the gt3076 and gt35? I use Autronic EMS.

I love my FP 3065, spools fast and stays strong to 8000rpms.

The GT3076 spools about 400 rpm lower than the GT35. Not a huge difference as far as spool up time. For auto x/track i would go with the gt3076 because the power band is wider more useful. The gt35 hits hard and is all top end power. The GT3076 is smooth.

If your into auto crossing, why even consider a laggy 76 or 35. Both these turbos would be destroyed by the quicker spooling 3071.
The 3071 sounds like the turbo for you.

Yep if you are auto crossing I would go with the 3071 or maybe even consider waiting to see what the new EVO IX turbo will do. The 3076 is a great turbo but depending on the autocross track if its small it won't help you much becuase it is quite a bit bigger and when going from the stocker to a 3076 it going to seem like a large difference. The GT3076 is a great turbo though, I really enjoy mine. As for the GT35 I am just not a big fan of it on a daily driver unless you are drag racing alot.

Just my .02

ITS gts 61 is good running 19psi and 400whp on 93 pump, so think about on race gas or about 25,26 psi

If someone were to build their evo for the best possible autoX experience and use the 3071, what size cam would be best? A buddy of mine says the 264/264 is the best option for autocrossing. Although, he may have been asuming i'd stay with the stock turbo? Would anyone else agree?

i look at it in a balanced way...3071 spools the earliest but doesnt put up the same power numbers as his bigger brothers.

the 3076 with supporting mods can be just as effective if not more damgerous then the 35r...now hold on a sec

(assume the only difference in mods in this next comment; is the turbos)
...i say this from the spool stand point...lets say ur on the track and u are going all throughout ur powerband the quicker spool is gonna be quicker around the track because in all reality in the time it takes to spool a 35r u may already be slowing back down to corner again...

on the other hand niether of the smaller brothers can really touch the dyno numbers and 1320' speeds a 35r can put down.

so this question will remain unanswerable to the general tuner public. its all on what the individual will use the car for to determine what turbo is the best.

personally i will be purchasing a GT3076 soon

my 2 sense, take it or leave it.

What about the GT3040BB? Shouldn't it be a good compromise, anyone using it?
