Newbie ques on revs not going down

Hi, I am pretty new to the evo scene and had a question when I let off the gas in any gear at 6,500 rpm or so and put it in netural. It seems to hang in the upper RPM's for a while. I have driven other turbo cars and not seen this before. I have also seen where the throttle gets stuck open a little bit. IS this normal in our cars to have the rpms hang while in between gears or just ging from a gear to netural thanks for the help.

its normal, most of them do it along with noisy drivetrain. Someone said that it was made that way so that it would stay in higher revs between shifts, but I dont think thats true.

It seems to be connected to the function of the BOV - I have an adjustable BOV (WORKS GFB) and by trial and error I have been able to find settings that pretty much eliminate this behaviour.

That sounds like that may be the case...your turbo can be spooling down and if the pressure isn't going out...it can be going into your throttle body.

Just a guess

well i had the same problem you do..but not anymore..i though it was my clutch or the throttle body....well the throttle is much easier so i put in a Works throttle and the rpm hang went away..so for me it was the throttle body..for some ppl ivve heard is their BOV..id check the throttle..and clean..it..

similar experience. some ppl (also happened few times to me) experienced JUMP in rpms by 300-500 when shifting near or at redline. although sometimes that can happen if u don't time ur footwork properly. once in a while it would stick on my shifts too. now i have 11k miles and no more jumps in rpms. although sometimes it goes down kinda slow, that's ok by me though if it keeps the engine in high rpms.

Well this is interesting...I noticed something similar at the track this weekend. Any more info on this "design feature" ?

Do you have any mods? its not normal for a stock EVO to do that ... although a few people have complained about it in the past. I forget what the issue was, something about the throttle sticking ... happened on DSM before ??? Do a search you'll find the answers ...

why would you put the car in neutral at 6500 RPM's? that doesnt make sense... its probably a safety feature so they dont drop too fast. It would be to your advantage so when you shift you don't lose the power band.....

I am having the same problem. The car seems like its still on the gas when I let go of the gas pedal on high rpm. This so called "feature" is annoying because I want to be able to slow down faster at the track with engine braking.
