I drive normal. This means there are times that I'm let it slip and let it ripp. (by rip I don't mean spin the wheels). But a clutch should not go out like this ... unless??

That's what I want to hear from you guys. What do YOU think caused this?

clutch?

I would think that the disk was rebuilt or the excessive heat from launching made the disk brittle and it broke.Do you autocross it at all?It builds a lot of heat.

Exedy and Daikin use the same parts too. Same company.

So you guys think poor manufacturing over using the incorrect clutch for my application. It was a stage 1 clutch. Won't that make a difference?

I doubt 10 launches in 3months can cause this.

Was the disk installed wrong? I see a shiney spot on the spline section, is it warn? Flexing the disk can cause it to fracture much like this.

Doubt it was installed incorrectly. It was installed about 3 months ago and performed well. But that's another area that I'm looking into.

This kind of failure happens from too much torsional shock (launching) or from misalignment (not having engine dowels in place). I assume you have the dowels in place, but check anyway.

Clutch Masters chose to use a smaller size center from Exedy rather than the larger one we use. Honestly, when the EVO first came out, there were no parts available so they probably started using this disc just because they could get it. The larger one is going to be heavier, but I have yet to see one do this. I have heard that CM has changed to the larger one but I don't know for sure. I have also heard they have pretty good customer service. Give them a call so they can help you out.
