Clutch adjustment easy??!
Clutch adjustment easy??!
This so called "easy" clutch adjustment on the back of teh clutch pedal just f*cked my back up.
Thus thwarting my 2nd attempt. Ignition limit switch is solidly in the way.
Unless anyone has an easy way to do this I will gladly bring it to the professionals.

I keep that switch disconnected anyway, so I wasn't worried about it, but I did put it back in place afterward. By "ignition limit switch," I'm assuming you mean the starter switch that doesn't let you start the car without depressing the clutch, btw.
Exactly that switch... I guess with that thing out of the way I could at least get in there. lol, I'm the type that would forget one day and start it through the back of my garage!
I'll bring it to the local wrench ninjas at DSG .
Thanks guys
Haha i thought i was the only one who had to contort themselves to adjust that stupid thing! Whoever said it was an easy adjustment must have been a circus midget or something. What a PITA!
i was wondering and assuming the same thing.

I am glad I am nto the only one with problems! I tried twice today unsuccessfully to adjust the clutch. Once I got the 12mm wrench on the nut, there was not enough room to turn it. I looked at what I could take out to make it easier, the clutch engaugement switch was the only thing.
Anyone who has done this any tips???

Smokedmustang,
Here is what I had to say in a recent thread:
Your are balancing three things by adjusting the pedal.
1. Proper disengagment. The engagement point has to be high enough for shifting without putting too much load on the syncros. The test on the EVO seems to be while shifting at 8000 rpm. For some reason, high rpms shifts require a higher engagement point.
2. Free play. Any amount of free play in the rod to the master cylinder's piston is adequate. If you adjust too far and it eliminates free play, the hydraulics malfunction by not allowing for self-adjustment (fluid flow to the reservoir).
3. Preference. Too low or high of engagement point may feel ackward especially at first.
