max safe rev limit on stock 05 EVO motor with 280's??
Wartallon can suck my left nut. I clicked on this thread thinking I might learn some valuable info, and I just wasted ten minutes of my life reading his bull****. Why the **** would you care if someone lives at home. The only kind of person that would criticise someone for something so stupid, is someone who got kicked out by their parents because they were worthless *** holes.
This thread has gone to hell!
Headstuds for the most part have nothing at all to do with your "redline"... nothing.
Rod bolts and valve springs are another subject altogether!!!!
Those are the things you need to be looking at...
I'm freaking embarrassed to even have posted in this thread... but I could not let the gross mis-information go unchecked when someone's engine is at stake!

I don't have 280 cams, but do have 272's. I regularly run my stock engine to 8400rpm with no ill effects so far. YMMV.
Headstuds have nothing to do with rpm. please dissregard that false info. BTW, I don't have them.
Factory redline on the stock tach is a "general guidline", not to be confused with any mechanical or ecu imposed real limit.

This is by far the funniest thread i have ever came across. My stomach hurts from how hard I am laughing. I can see everyone here hates the Warrtalon fellow, and i see why, well nevermind i prob. just pissed more people off cause i have nothing to really add on here. I believe that you can believe any info that Zues gives.
i live at home and i freakin love it, i am 21 years old and i plan on being here for a wile, y go buy a house if i dont know if i want to live here for the rest of my life, who knows i might want to take off to sc and live there
I dont have my evo yet..waiting until november too long..just cant decide on evo 8 or 9, but I just came over from the turbo charged honda world and I know that some people go past redline and drop valves..because they do not have proper valvetrain..Trust me dropping valves at 8500+rpm is not a friendly sight..80% of time entire motor is destroyed. Rodbolts also have a tendency to stretch which will cause knock..so arp rodbolts may be a good idea..People who run lsvtec with stock rods normally do that to get higher rev of stock rods..just my 2 cents

i'm so surprised that so many people replied to this thread of mine. Anyhow, Most of whats posted here is off-topic, mainly about people like me still living at home.
I'm surprised to see so many people dislike warrtalon here....ohh well. but anyhow, I should have done a search before posting this question, anyways I did do a search and got my questions answered.
My conclusions, on a stock motor with 280 cams you should be able to rev to 8000 RPMs safely.
and for the best low-mid-top end power set your intake cam gear to +2 and leave the exhaust gear at 0

For one with 280s, shifting at 7000 is retarded. I think Blue Evo 8 is pretty dumb for living at home while owning and MODDING an Evo, but that's his prerogative. You, on the other hand, need to leave advice such as this to those who know what they're talking about. I haven't even answered yet, because I am not educated enough to tell him if 8500rpm is safe or useful. I would suggest stopping at 8000rpm so as not to be too risky, but then again, he put 280s in a stock-turbo'd Evo while living at home with his parents, so I don't think he really cares.
what i'm trying to say is that. there's no possible way knwo where to shift unless you have some source of Datalog capability to see when you start lossing power. For example i uses my Zeitronix Wideban,EGT,Boost and also my Pocket logger. I'm not you are wrong on what you said. But you have to admit it that just because his parent bought him or he's living with that doesn't mean he doesn't care. Can we all just get along
